Elizabeth MacElwee Jones, CFA, Principal & Founder

Elizabeth started in finance at Morgan Stanley in New York as a quantitative analyst. Sent by Morgan Stanley for an Executive MBA at New York University, she was the first individual the firm sponsored for that program.

Elizabeth then joined Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM) – the first female portfolio manager at Goldman (outside of the ILA desk that managed cash for Goldman’s corporate banking clients) – and co-managed Goldman’s first mutual fund.

She was recruited back to Morgan Stanley and was named Principal, Head of Global Marketing for MSCI – the joint venture with The Capital Group that created indices that defined international investing. She worked with government and stock exchange officials, investment managers, and investors across Asia, Latin America, Europe, and the United States, and strengthened the MSCI index brand worldwide.

Hired by Putnam Investments as a Managing Director, she created a Portfolio Analysis & Risk group to monitor and evaluate its mutual fund teams.

After six years at Putnam, Elizabeth decided to establish Blakely Harbor Advisors, LLC to provide a customized, seasoned investment capability for institutional and individual clients, incorporating years of quantitative research, risk analysis, and money management experience.
